World Turtles Day

             As you see from the topic, I'm talking about the Gigantic, long lived, endangered Reptiles in our Planet i.e. Turtles. Over 200 Millions of year they exists their habitats on Earth. Turtles are one of the most long lived animal of our planet. With the extension of Needs as like hunting, poaching, marine pollutions are liable for their Endangered Tag. Also some cruel non vegans would be the threat for their number. As, today is Turtle's Day let's read some interesting facts and reasons and bringing some steps for their redemption.

            At 23rd May in every year we all observe as World Turtle's Day, with the purpose of giving a look towards them and draw some awareness steps from humans about the count or survivals of that endangered species.

Life Cycle of A Sea Turtle :

Facts about Turtle :

  • During hatchling from their eggs around 1 in 1000 make themself adulthood because they faced a lot of problems from predators during that time. Their survival at Juvenile stages are so dangerous, as like do or die condition.
  •  Turtles are very fond of Jelly fishes even though some are poisonous. This may prove harmful for them, as sometimes they ingest thinking this  is a jelly fish, which can choke them. Turtles can be herbivores, carnivores and omnivores as accordingly their mode of habitat.  
  • Probably they lay egg on land, breathe also air by which they are called amniotes. But most of their life span is belongs to under water.
  • Turtles are cold blooded which results to an incredibly long life span almost about 200 years.
  • 200 Million ago during Dinosaurs' age they are present our planet Earth. So, they are the oldest reptile ever than others like snake, crocodiles etc.
  • They are carrying a bony, cartilaginous shell which act as a shield to protect them from predators. That shell is actually a part of their skeleton which made up of 50 bones.
  • The oldest Turtle ever recorded, named Tu'i Mallia of Tongo Island passed away at  the age of 188.
  • The largest ever Turtle is captured in September 1988 at National Museum Cardiff measuring almost 3m(9ft) and weighing of 914 kg(2016 pounds). It is a leatherback turtle which is found in dead condition.
  • Turtles are seems to prefer red, orange and yellow colored food because they appear to investigate these colors are more than other meal. 


   The colored words are highlighted for more information about some particular meaning.



The hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is a critically endangered sea turtle belonging to the family Cheloniidae. It is the only extant species in the genus Eretmochelys.

Varieties of Turtles' Species :


First we know What are Turtles?
Turtles are reptiles of the order Testudines that have bodies encased in bony shells. There are more than 350 species of turtles.

Conservation of Turtle :

  • The main cause of of extinction of creatures by the coastal pollution y plastics and many harmful waste materials. So, we can reduce this by participation in coastal clean-ups and reduce plastic use to keep our beaches and oceans clean. Trash in the ocean can harm sea turtles and other creatures that live there.
  • When we travelling at the oceans we could carry reusable water bottles and shopping bags. Keep your beach clean two times of a week by your community, friend circles, students. This important steps are leads to a great effort to that ecosystem.
  • Do not disturb  nesting turtles, nests or  hatchlings. Attend a helping hand towards that newly hatchling eggs by protecting them from predators.
  • Remove recreational beach equipment like chairs, umbrellas, boats at night so that sea turtles are not turned away.
  • As a tourist never feed or attempt to feed sea turtles it is illegal and harmful for them.
  • Become a conscious and responsible sea food consumer by asking where and how your seafood was caught. Choose seafood caught in ways that do not harm of kill turtled. Some of these steps are very helpful to this endangered species.
